The Oscars took place this past Sunday, and host Chris Rock wanted to use his platform to help his daughter, Zahra, become the top Girl Scout cookie seller and beat their rival Mrs. Dunn.

During the Oscars, Rock said, “Last night Zahra, my youngest called me up and said, ‘Daddy how come we never sell the most cookies? How come Mrs. Dunn wins every year?’”  He continued, “It would mean so much to my little girl if we could beat Linda Dunn.”

He then brought out his daughter and some of her friends from her troop, and they sold cookies to the biggest stars in Hollywood.   He then announced later in the show that they raised $65,243, which is more than enough to beat Linda Dunn this year.

Linda Dunn has now responded to the stunt.  She said she wasn’t paying attention to the Oscars, and all of the sudden her phone starting ringing with people telling her that Rock had called her out.  Mrs. Dunn jokingly told Access Hollywood, “That was a personal throw-down.”  She continued, “We have a fun rivalry. Selling cookies is fun.”

On a serious note, Mrs. Dunn said, “90 million people watch the Oscars.  You can’t buy that type of publicity for the Girl Scouts.  That was a wonderful thing that he did.”

The Girl Scouts have yet to confirm the exact amount Zahra raised at the Oscars.  You can read more on the story here.
