Beyoncé spoke with Garage Magazine in a rare interview, and opened up about her love for art and family.  The article is accompanied by photographs of  Beyoncé surrounded by circles of vibrant colors, done by artist Urs Fischer.

Beyoncé  says that she loves photography and painting, partly because she can remember her mother collecting art when she was younger.  She says she enjoys going to different art galleries when she is traveling.  She commented, “There’s a release and an immediacy there that helps me escape from my other projects.”

She explains that her own art is no longer influenced by the voices of others, and she loves being totally immersed in her projects.  She stated, “I no longer have to work based on someone else’s expectations or pressure. I put enough pressure on myself!”

When asked about her parenting skills, Beyoncé gives her mother all the credit.  She says her mother taught her what hard work means.  She commented, “Everything I know about being a mother comes from examples she has shown. My mother has instilled confidence in my sister and me and taught us to always be grateful.”
