Denzel Washington and Viola Davis are set to star in a movie adaptation of the stage play Fences, where Washington will also be directing.
The CEO and Chairman of Paramount Pictures, Brad Grey says, “This important and beloved play has been a passion of Denzel’s for many years, and it is with great excitement that we embark together to bring his dream project to the big screen.”
Fences is about an African American father who was once a baseball star, now garbage collector, struggling with race relations in the 1950’s United States.
In 2010, both Washington and Davis won Tony’s for Best Actor/ Actress for their roles in the Broadway revival of Fences. The film is in the pre-production stages. You can read more on the story here.
