World’s oldest female body builder, Ernestine Shepherd, is celebrating her 80th birthday.  Yes, you read that right, Earnestine turned 80 on June 16th!

Ernestine lives by her mantra, “Age is noting but a number.”  She believes that as we age, the more it is crucial for us to be fit.  She admits that she didn’t always enjoy working out, but at age 56 she started her fitness journey.  Her sister died unexpectedly, and she decided she wanted to carry out the fitness goals the two of them shared.

She starts her workout with a 10 mile run around 3am, and makes sure she eats healthy every day.  She is now a fitness trainer and teaches classes of her own.  Ernestine says she finds strength in prayer, and her sister will always be her motivation.

The Guinness Book of World Records named her the “oldest female body builder” in 2010 and 2011.  Recently, Ernestine released a book of her own called, The “Ageless” Journey of Ernestine Shepherd, where she gives tips on staying healthy.

She posted a birthday message to herself on Facebook where she thanks God for bringing her this far.  Keep on going, Ernestine!  Check out her post below, and read more on the story here.
