14-year-old Royce Mann is wise beyond his years. Mann wrote a poem titled “White Boy Privilege” for his schools poetry slam contest, and it went viral. Mann recently sat down with The Preachers to discuss the poem, and what it means to have privilege.
Mann’s poem has racked up over 14 million views online, and he said he really “just wanted to talk about privilege in an honest way.” Mann says he learned about privilege in school during a race and gender studies class.
Mann said he enjoyed writing the poem as an outlet for him to express his feelings. He continued to say, “We need to change the world with our words.”
