Browns head coach Hue Jackson proved early on that he “gets” Cleveland and wants to be a big part of the community.

He was a fixture at Cavaliers playoff games, and Tuesday night he was at Progressive Field, proudly wearing Indians gear prior to the game against the Washington Nationals.

But it may be Jackson’s final field trip for a while — the Browns kick off training camp Friday.

“I’m very excited,” Jackson said. “I think our players did a great job in our off-season program and I think you take the next step. This is just another step in our process.”

Jackson declined to comment on troubled wide receiver Josh Gordon, who learned Monday that he was reinstated to the NFL but must serve a four-game suspension to start the season. On Tuesday, the Browns added Gordon to the roster, but also put him on the non-football injury list (quad), meaning his return to the field is delayed until he passes a physical.
