In a bombshell, WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange implies that a Democratic National Committee staffer, who was murdered last month, was the source of leaked DNC emails. In an interview on Dutch TV Tuesday, Assange told the interviewer that whistleblowers go to significant efforts to get us material and often very significant risks. It was then that he mentioned the staffer. Assange said, “There’s a 27-year-old, works for the DNC, he was shot in the back–murdered just a few weeks ago–for unknown reasons as he was walking down the street in Washington.”

Back story: Seth Rich was shot to death on a Washington, DC street before dawn on July 8, which was before the start of the Democratic National Convention. Whoever killed Rich didn’t take any of his valuables. They shot him multiple times, as in shoot to kill, and left. Rich served as the committee’s voter expansion data director. He’d served the DNC in that role since June, 2014.

The material Assange is referring to in this case is a group of emails leaked to WikiLeaks that they published, which seemed to show the DNC favored Hillary Clinton over her now-former rival Bernie Sanders in the race to be the party’s presidential nominee. Unfair advantage and favoritism. That was a claim made by Sanders’ supporters throughout the campaign that the DNC was ‘in bed with’ the Clinton campaign. The backlash over those emails resulted in the chair of the committee, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, resigning. That power shift landed on political strategist, Donna Brazile stepping into the chairwoman’s duties on an interim basis by the start of the convention–a role that she continues to serve in.

When the interview suggested that it’s quite something to suggest that a WikiLeaks source was murdered, Assange said, “others have suggested that (uh) we are investigating, we understand what happened in that situation with Seth Rich.”

WikiLeaks offered a $20,000 reward for info into Rich’s murder. They posted it on Twitter also on Tuesday. See their Tweet by clicking the image below. The television interview is also posted below as well.
