Indy Connect will host several public lunchtime meetings starting Tuesday, to discuss the Marion County Transit Plan.
In November, Marion County voters will decide on a $0.25 tax increase for every $100 of income, in order to fund the transit plan. If voters approve the tax hike, Indy Connect says riders will see a 70 percent increase in IndyGO services, shorter wait-times and increased morning, evening and weekend hours.
Phase 1 of the Red Line rapid transit system is already in the works even if voters do not approve the tax hike. If voters approve the tax increase, Indy Connect would expand the Red Line even further and start on the Blue and Purple rapid transit lines. The Red Line will run north and south, while the Blue and Purple lines would reach the east and west sides of the city.
