Today is #NationalCrayonDay, and Crayola has announced one of its beloved colors is going to retire from its 24 count packs.  Crayola teased the announcement on social media, leading up to National Crayon Day.

Last night via twitter, “the most colorful company on Earth” announced that the “Dandelion” yellow crayon will officially retire.  The announcement was originally set to take place this morning, but due to the crayon’s adventurous nature, the announcement was made early.

During a Facebook Live stream, the senior vice president of marketing at Crayola, Melanie Boulden, stated, “I can share two pieces of new information, the first is that the new color will be part of the blue family, and the second is this summer we are going to invoke our fans to name the new color because we want you all to be a part of Crayola history.”

More details of the new color are expected to be announced in May.  Read more on the story here.
