On Friday President Donald Trump made statements that began a firestorm. The President said that players who refused to stand during the national anthem are “sons of bitches” and should be fired on the spot. He tweeted on Sunday Night that “Sports fans should never condone players that do not stand proud for their National Anthem or their Country. NFL should change policy!”
Many players excised their First Amendment freedoms by taking a knee during the playing of the National Anthem before the start of yesterday’s games. Also many team owners expressed their displeasure with the President’s remarks.
Seven Indianapolis Colts took a knee in their silent protest before their game with the Cleveland Browns.
