Sometimes, when the Lord instructs us to move in a certain direction, we are slow to move our feet. Not because we’re lazy, or don’t care, but because we feel like we’re not enough to accomplish the job.
We feel like Moses did when the Lord told him he would be the one to lead the Israelites out of Egypt.
Moses’ response was not one of surety, but one of insecurity: “Oh, my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue.” (Exodus 4:10, ESV)
Moses felt as though he was not enough to guide the people out of captivity, and in a sense, he was right.
On his own, he was not enough.
But he had God on his side, and God is more than enough. We are the same way. We’ll look at all our physical shortcomings: the qualities we don’t possess, the information we don’t know, the stuff we can’t do. By zoning in on those things, we miss the most important thing: we serve the God who can do it all!
