IMPD Chief Paul Ciesielski appeared on Afternoons with Amos defending his controversial decision to promote Scott Hasler to command IMPD’s East District. In 1990 Hasler was involved in the controversial shooting of Leonard Barnett, an unarmed robbery suspect who Hasler said was fleeing, but Barnett had a severely broken foot and was unarmed. Hasler’s promotion has raised deep anger and concern among many in the African-American community. Amos also asked Chief Ciesielski about video during the Expo shootings, the investigation into the police action shooting of Warren Collins and the continuing community anger over the fatal drunk driving crash of Officer David Bisard.
