Mayor Greg Ballard has chosen a former NYPD Deputy Police Commissioner and former Public Safety Director of White Plains, NY as the new Public Safety Director of Indianapolis/Marion County. Dr. Frank Straub will be introduced to Indianapolis at a Thursday press conference.
Dr. Straub will appear live on Afternoons with Amos around 1:30pm this Thursday as part of the Mayor’s Day In event. Dr. Straub becomes the first out of towner chosen to head a major city/county department since former Mayor Steve Goldsmith chose an out of towner for Parks Director in 1992.
Dr. Straub must be confirmed by the Indianapolis City-County Council at their first meeting in January, 2010.
