After nearly 30 years between projects, legendary gospel group The Family is back with new music and a renewed purpose.
Members Darryl Blair, Dalean Collins, and Carrie “Mousey” Collins recently joined Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell to introduce their latest single, “Jesus We Love You Lord Today,” marking an emotional reunion for one of gospel music’s most influential groups.

Before playing the song, Erica Campbell welcomed the trio and celebrated their return, calling their voices timeless. Darryl explained that the new single reflects the same heart of worship that first introduced The Family to audiences years ago.
“It kind of represents what we did in the beginning,” Darryl shared. “It just talks about the power of Jesus and how important His name is to us.”
For Dalean Collins, the song’s message feels especially relevant today.
“We wanted to make sure everybody knows that Jesus never changes,” he said, pointing to the challenges facing today’s world. “He’s still on the throne, and He still reigns.”
The reunion itself was just as meaningful as the music.
When co-host Griff asked what it felt like to step back into the studio together after so many years, Carrie, affectionately known as “Mousey,” admitted the experience was emotional.
“We were in a family chat. We cried,” she said. “It just felt like home again. It was just like a family reunion.”
Erica echoed the excitement, recalling the overwhelming response she witnessed when The Family appeared during a gospel tour. She said the audience erupted the moment the group’s image appeared on screen, proving their music continues to resonate across generations.
Known for helping shape contemporary gospel through classics like “Silver and Gold,” “Melodies From Heaven,” and “Now Behold the Lamb,” The Family says they aren’t returning to compete with today’s artists.
Instead, Darryl explained their mission is to build upon the work already being done.
“The Lord said, ‘You’re not here to replace. You’re here to enhance,'” he shared. “We’re joining in with the message that’s already out there and doing our part in ministry.”

The group also revealed that fans won’t have to wait long for more music. A new single titled “Believe” is on the way, with a full project scheduled for release in 2027. They recently completed a live recording in Houston and hinted that several new releases are already in the works.

Before ending the interview, The Family took time to thank longtime supporters and offered special appreciation to Kirk Franklin for helping launch the group’s career.
“We’ll continue the legacy that he started for us,” Darryl said. “We’re standing on shoulders now, and we’re just trying to do what God has called us to do.”
For longtime fans, The Family’s return is more than just a reunion. It’s a reminder that powerful ministry and timeless music can continue inspiring new generations, even decades later.
