Jennifer Hudson. The New Face of Weight Watchers
An overweight, Jennifer Hudson, began earning her fame on American Idol as an amateur singer. Although this she did not win, her talents did not go unnoticed.
Hollywood decided to cultivate her acting talents and invited her to play, Effie, in the movie Dreamgirls. Not only was she allowed to act, she was able to sing next to Beyonce Knowles in the film. In addition, she later played the down-to-earth assistant of Carrie Bradshaw in the Sex in the City movie. While making films, her singing career also began to blossom and her songs began to get noticed in the music industry.
Although her career begin rising to “A-list” celebrity status, she was not immuned to the tragedy that occurred in her family. In the fall of 2008, Jennifer received news that her mother, brother, and nephew were murdered. Jennifer dealt with her grief privately. She seemed to quietly disappear from the limelight. She did make occasional appearances in the public. The most memorable was her song tribute at Michael Jackson’s memorial service, shortly after giving birth to her son. However, after her beautiful gospel performance, she slowly faded out of the public eye well, until now.
Presently, a slimmer Jennifer has been seen in commercials and ads as a spokesperson for Weight Watchers. It seems that “taking the time off to focus on herself” has really paid off. Much of this she attributes to her role as a new mother. On April 1, 2010, Jennifer appeared on Good Morning America. During her interview, she explained that her mission was for women to stay fit. She stated, “I was very comfortable with myself before. I have a child now and I want to set a great example for him. Make better life choices, healthier choices, and just create a good example for him growing up.”
It seems Weight Watchers made a great pick in choosing her to represent their program. She appears to be a very solid role model for young girls everywhere. She understands the struggle against weight loss and even in the mist of her own personal tragedies, she can show others how to overcome hardships in a positive way. Even amongst adversary, she has been able to overcome obstacles. As a result, is has earned the honor of representing a successful, American weight loss company.
