A sports non-profit organization will be making Indianapolis its home.

Mayor Greg Ballard announced Tuesday that USA Football, currently headquartered in Washington, DC, is moving to Indianapolis by August 2010. USA Football is the sport’s national governing body on youth and amateur levels.

USA Football members include youth football coaches, players, league commissioners and game officials all over the country. By the start of the 2010 football season, more than 50,000 youth football coaches will have received training through USA Football’s full-day coaching schools or its innovative online coaching course to better teach the sport.

USA Football is the official youth football development partner of the NFL, its 32 teams and the NFL Players Association.

The organization also builds and manages America’s national teams in the sport for international competition.

USA Football employs 20 full-time staffers. The group holds over 80 football training events annually throughout the country, many in partnership with NFL teams like the Colts.
