Jaleesa Jones, a senior at North Central High School has been chosen as the twenty-fifth Ms. Circle City Classic. Jones was chosen Sunday from twenty-nine high school seniors, representing eleven Central Indiana high schools, in the 25th annual Classic Coronation.

Racia Poston, of Ben Davis High School was selected First Runner-Up while Sierra Nance, also of North Central, was selected Second Runner-Up.

Olivia Sedwick of Cathedral High School and Charnay Pickett of Ben Davis completed the Coronation’s Top Five. The other five in the Top Ten in the Circle City Classic Coronation were: Tarasae Stancil, Cathedral; Kayla Majors and Jessica Parks, Lawrence North; Shelby Dartis; Arlington; and Jalessa Rice, Warren Central.

The other pageant contestants and their high schools were: Chelsea Anderson-Rodgers, Noblesville High; Kayla Battle, Cardinal Ritter; Scherrie Blackwell and Annabelle Henriquez, Irvington Prep; Olivia Brooks, Cashmiera Brown, Diondra Liggans, Krystal Nichols, Lawrence North; Amber Fisher, Violet Murff, Warren Central; Kelle Harrell, Carmel; Jasmine James, Karlencia Johnson, Dannielle Yelder, North Central; Ashley Moore, Diamond Price, Ambria White, Cathedral; Dorthia Purnell, Terre Haute North; Niasha Shaw, Pike;

Begun in 1986, the Ms Circle City Classic Coronation pageant has showcased the abilities of area young women. Contestants are nominated by counselors, teachers and administrators at their high schools. The young women participate in a series of workshops, interviews and write an essay. They are also evaluated on the basic of their academic achievements, and school and outside activities.

Jaleesa Jones, the 2010 Ms. Circle City Classic, will reign over the important Classic activities from the Coaches Luncheon to the Classic Parade to the game itself at Lucas Oil Stadium.

WTLC-AM1310’s own Amos Brown, who has hosted the Coronation for most of its twenty-five years, was again joined as co-host by WISH-TV/Channel 8 Noon and 5pm Anchor Deanna Dewberry. The Coronation will be broadcast this Tuesday, September 28th at 7pm on WNDY-TV/Channel 23.
