Ribbs told Amos he’ll return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for this May’s Centennial Celebration. Ribbs was the first African-American to qualify and compete in the Indianapolis 500 twenty years ago (1991). Ribbs finished 21st in the 1993 race. Ribbs also revealed that his 500 car sponsor, legendary comedian and humanitarian Bill Cosby, will also attend the Speedway’s centennial as part of the 500 Race activities. Ribbs, who competed in Indy Car, NASCAR, Formula One and the Trans-Am racing series is a racing veteran and pioneer who was well respected by drivers and loved by the racing public.  Ribbs appeared at the AWA broadcast live from Martin University.
