The leaders of the Excel Adult Learning Charter School, along with a student and a representative of the revitalization of the Meadows neighborhood appeared on Afternoons with Amos to address concerns raised in the community.  The school, chartered by the Mayor, is adding a second locations in the Meadows.  But had failed to inform the neighborhood residents and leaders of their plans.  Appearing to explain the school’s mission was Scott Bess, CEO of Goodwill’s Educational programs and Robert Moses head of Excel.  Also appearing was a recent Excel student, Jameson Brewer who has received his high school diploma and plans to attend college.  Also joining them was Trevor Bradley of the Meadows area development.

The four explained the school’s mission and objectives. Bess and Moses were challenged on their failure to inform the community of their expansion into the Meadows while Bradley was challenged why the Meadows revitalization has been extremely slow to utilize African-American owned businesses and African-American workers.  Hear the full interview above.
