The United States Navy came to Indianapolis this week and helped honor an Indianapolis hero.  Graham Martin was the longtime football coach at historic Crispus Attucks High School. Martin was also a part of naval history as one of the “Golden 13”. Thirteen men who became the first African-American commissioned US Navy officers in 1943. Indianapolis named a park after Graham this week and Navy Vice-Admiral Mark Harnitchek participated in that dedication. Admiral Harnitchek appeared on Afternoons with Amos and talked with Amos about Martin’s contributions and the diversity and mission of the Navy in the 21st Century.
