Sunday Best” season two finalist Dontavies Boatwright has died.

The 34-year-old baritone died in his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida. The official cause of death has not yet been released, but it is believed to be an apparent heart attack.

Boatwright was signed to Parriscope Entertainment, Inc. and in September had just released his first single, a medley of the Fred Hammond songs “Glory to Glory” and “Blessed.”

Dontavies was one of the most memorable contestants from his season and even after his departure from the show kept himself busy in the gospel music industry as a radio announcer in Jacksonville, FL along with singing at industry events and concerts all over the country. Equal parts classical vocalist and Sunday morning squaller, Dontavies was a rare breed of modern gospel singer. In an era where high notes are sometimes misused to determine a singer’s skill level, Dontavies was a soaring and unapologetic baritone who’s range was found in his depth.
