Shaniesha Forbes,14, developed a relationship with a man who she should have never had contact with. After meeting 20 year-old Christian Ferdinand on Facebook, Forbes soon began seeing him at different places in Brooklyn. The two eventually started a sexual relationship.
But things went downhill when Forbes revealed that she was pregnant while visiting him at his apartment. The two got into an argument and Ferdinand attacked Forbes. He eventually smothered her to death.
After the murder, Ferdinand took Forbes’ naked body to Gerritsen Beach. He then burned her remains and fled to his family’s home in Maine. Her body was discovered on Jan. 6 and police recently made an arrest.
Forbes’ mother never knew that her child was dating a 20 year-old man and doesn’t recall seeing him before his arrest.
This incident serves as a reminder on how important it is to monitor your child’s activities online and how they use their cell phones.
Ferdinand is charged with second degree murder.
