The award winning Mississippi Mass Choir will once again “Go ye into all the world,” evangelizing in song, with a fifteen city tour of the Canary Islands and Spain. The tour will commence on December 5 in Guia de Isora, Tenerife Islands and conclude on December 23 in A Coruna, Spain.

According to Concert Promoter Luis Manjarres of Conciertos del Norte/The Project, “I perfectly remember my first concert with Mississippi Mass Choir. It was back in 1997, the city was Seville, Spain, and the Opera House La Maestranza was packed. At the end of the concert everybody was touched by the Spirit. Every single person in the audience realized the singers on stage were a singular marvelous unique number. After that unforgettable day I toured Europe year in year out with this monument to the Gospel tradition: The Mississippi Mass Choir…Feeling, Freedom and Fun. The choir that is more than a choir!”

This marks the group’s second tour of the Canary Islands and tenth of Spain. They have been blessed to grace international stages throughout Japan, Italy, France, Portugal, Bahamas, South Africa and Greece; becoming the first Gospel artist to perform at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, at the base of the iconic Acropolis in Athens, Greece. While attending the famed Umbria Jazz Gospel and Soul Easter Festival in Terni, Italy, the choir received an unexpected invite to sing for Pope John Paul II at his summer residence in Castel Gandolfo.

Over their 26 year music and ministry career, they have either won or received nominations for every music industry award, including the Grammy, Stellar, Soul Train, Dove, Billboard Magazine, National Association of Record Merchandisers, 3M Visionary, and the Mississippi Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts. In 2010 they were awarded the “Thomas A. Dorsey Most Notable Achievement Award” at the 25th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards. The single “God’s on Your Side” from their new release, “Declaration of Dependence” reached the Top Ten on the Billboard Gospel Music Chart, and has been a mainstay on the BDS Radio Charts.

You would think that after such a long and distinguished career, they would be sitting on their laurels and enjoying the fruits of their labors. But according to Executive Director, Jerry Mannery, “We are scouting out new lands; for fields to till, and seasons to sow seeds, for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
