Angela Mansfield

It’s the biggest primary battle on the Democratic Party side in the upcoming May 5th primary.  It’s the race for the Democratic nomination for City County Council in Council District 1. The northwest side district is bounded on the West by Hendricks County, on the North by 96th Street, on the South by 71st/Westlane/73rd Street and on the East by Ditch Road.  It’s an open seat with incumbent Republican Councilman Jose Evans not running for re-election. The primary race pits two incumbent Democratic Councillors.  Angela Mansfield who has represented part of the area before redistricting for twelve years, and At Large Councilman Leroy Robinson who’s finishing his first Council term.  Both Councilman Robinson and Councilwoman Mansfield were invited to appear on Afternoons with Amos. Councilman Robinson respectfully declined.  Councilwoman Mansfield appeared.  In her Afternoons with Amos interview, Mansfield said that crime and public safety was the major concern among residents of District 1. That and infrastructure, including condition of streets and roads and lack of sidewalks and streetlights. Mansfield stressed that she, if re-elected, would continue to be a strong voice on the Council representing the district’s residents in Washington and Pike Townships; not lobbyists or special interests.  Mansfield is concerned that zoning respect neighborhoods and not be a negative force.  Mansfield supports the move to place a moratorium on building gas stations adjacent to residential areas or against zoning rules.  She feels that economic development in areas like District 1 is important.  maybe more important than downtown development.  Councilwoman Mansfield stressed she would continue to be an independent voice for her District if re-elected.  Hear the Afternoons with Amos Interview with Councilwoman Angela Mansfield, running in the Democratic Council primary in Council District 1.
