Have you noticed that the price of eggs has risen nearly 50-percent in just the last month? It almost makes one scream ouch at the refrigerated section of the local grocer. The reason for the increased price tag of “protein by the dozen” has been blamed on one of the worst bird flu epidemics the United States has ever seen. New York Senator Chuck Schumer is reacting to this hurt on the grocery budget of Americans with a warning. Schumer says egg prices will rise even more unless Congress stops the proposed $500-million cut to the U.S. Agriculture Department. Some of the funds being cut would finance vaccinations so more birds won’t get sick.
