Community Connection Friday May 31

Senator Jim Merritt who is running for Mayor joined us on Community Connection

Why are your running for Mayor:

“OUR CITIZENS DESERVE A BETTER ALTERNATIVE. THAT’S WHY I’M RUNNING FOR MAYOR.”

“Indianapolis is a city that we all know and love. I was born in this city, grew up here, operated a business in Indianapolis and raised my children here. I have served my community for the majority of my adult life because I believe we all share in the responsibility of helping Indianapolis to be the very best place to live, work and raise a family. Indianapolis is rich in both diversity and opportunity. I’m running for mayor because, lately, the city has been neglected. Many neighborhoods are struggling, crime is on the rise, our streets have deteriorated rapidly and these concerns are simply not being addressed by the current administration.”

IPS Announces the 2020 Teacher of the Year

Ethan Hoffman

Ethan Hoffman as well as Carrie Cline Black joins us live on Community Connection.

About:

” Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) is excited to announce Ethan Hoffman as the 2020 IPS Teacher of the Year. The announcement was made Monday night at the annual Teacher of the Year dinner inside the Indiana Historical Society’s Eli Lilly Hall. The winner will hold the title during the 2019-20 school year.”

“Hoffman teaches math to students in grades 9-11 at the Newcomer Program. This program serves immigrant and refugee students who are new to the United States and, in some cases, have never attended school.”

IPS says, “Ethan Hoffman embodies what our Teacher of the Year program is all about,” said Interim Superintendent Aleesia Johnson. “His love for his students and enthusiasm for teaching inspires everyone around him and we couldn’t be happier about him representing IPS in the coming school year.”
