Audio ©2010 WTLC/Radio One.</strong> In the wake of a controversial beating of a 15 year old Black teen by Indianapolis Police three weeks ago Afternoons with Amos was invited and accepted an invitation to broadcast live from the Police Training Academy. Guests talked about police training and how residents should interact with police. Listeners called with examples of mistreatment by police along with questions about training and recruitment. It was the first time any Indianapolis media had broadcast such a program from the city’s Police Academy and may be one of the few (if not the first) broadcasts by Black Radio and/or Black Talk Radio from such an institution.

Public Safety Director Dr. Frank Straub discussed the recent deployment of 130 additional police officers in the city's high crime neighborhoods on Afternoons with Amos. Dr. Straub explained the reason for the surge and took listeners calls of concerns about it.
