Gary Coleman had been on life support at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

Former child star Gary Coleman has died after suffering an intercranial hemorrhage from a head injury that occurred at his Utah home earlier this week. He was 42.

Utah Valley Regional Medical Center spokeswoman Janet Frank said life support was terminated and Coleman died at 12:05 p.m. MDT.

His wife, Shannon Price, made the decision to pull the actor off life support early Friday morning, TMZ.com reports. Friends and family members were reportedly by Coleman’s side when he passed.

Since the accident Wednesday, Coleman, best known for his role in the 70’s TV sitcom “Diff’rent Strokes,” had slipped into a coma, according to his rep John Alcantar.

Though Alcantar initially said Coleman was “conscious and lucid,” his condition quickly took a turn for the worse and he was placed on life support mid-day Thursday.

Price released a statement Thursday to KUTV-TV, saying that the actor was taken to the hospital with “a serious medical problem.”

“We are asking for everyone’s prayers at this time,” she said. “We hope those prayers are answered and that Gary will be able to recover and return home soon.”

Coleman had a long history of health issues.

In February, he suffered a seizure while on the set of “The Insider.” Coleman, whose growth was stunted by a congenital kidney defect, has also had two kidney transplants, in 1973 and in 1984.
