The Rev. Al Sharpton will address the Indianapolis community’s concern about police excessive force at a citywide worship service and rally in Indianapolis Sunday, July 11th. The service and rally will be at Eastern Star Church, 5750 E 30th Street at 7pm. Rev. Sharpton was invited to Indianapolis by the Black religious and other leaders who have been concerned about the recent incidents of police excessive force. Indianapolis residents, especially families and children, are invited to the service where Rev. Sharpton is expected to addess the community’s concerns and demands African-American leaders have made to city officials.

Those demands include the firing of all IMPD officers involved in the Brandon Johnson excessive force case; include civilian participation in IMPD’s Internal Affairs process; reorganization of IMPD’s training academy; making sure that IMPD’s work force is more reflective of the community it services and having the Federal Justice Department involved and monitor this process.
