NEW YORK – International Monetary Fund chief, Dominique Strauss-Kahn has stepped down from his post after being charged with attempting to rape a maid in a New York City hotel. The New York Daily News reports:

“I think at this time first of my wife – whom I love more than anything – of my children, of my family, of my friends,” said Strauss-Kahn, who was captured in a photo snapped at Rikers Island looking bleary-eyed and unshaven.

“I want to protect this institution which I have served with honor and devotion, and especially – especially – I want to devote all my strength, all my time, and all my energy to proving my innocence,” he said..
