Today Word~ “Forgotten Thanks”

Scripture: Luke 17:17 “And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?” 18 “There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.”

It’s so easy to get wrapped up in our opinions, emotions and being treated unfairly, that we forget the great things God has already provided in our lives. We often expose our frustrations and hurts, but we hide when it comes to true healing. We want to be healed, but not changed. The process of healing is to make you look different from the scar. When you keep picking at a womb, it will never heal. In this passage the lepers were oust from the common area because of their disease. As the lepers saw Jesus coming, they cried “Lord have mercy on us”. This sincere cry for help caused Jesus to stop and see about them. They were in the right place to be healed. Stop standing outside the gate, and come into his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise, be thankful unto him and bless his name! They didn’t have side liners, gossip sessions, and facebook and twitter conversations. They wanted to be healed. Hurt doesn’t heal you, it constantly reminds you, but humility and confession will heal you and make you whole. Healing means- to bring to an end or conclusion, as conflicts between people or groups, usually with the strong implication of restoring former amity; settle; reconcile. The number ten represents the closing of something and the start of another. God wants to close up some things in your life, to bring forth newness in your life. Somebody shout “This chapter is OVER”! Understand, that the only result of this disease was death. Many believers are operating on broken focus. We want companionship, friends, love, money, blessings, all these things are good, but we lack in our desire the need for Jehovah-Rophi, GOD that heals and restores! Jesus healed the lepers, and to be re-invited back into the community they had to show themselves to the priest”. Although 10 got healed, 1 came back to say thank you! I was amazed by the humility of this man, to find Jesus and to give him personal honor for his long awaited deliverance. The other ten received a great gift with an ungrateful heart. Healing changes you from the inside out. I’m sure they remembered as people reminded them what they used to be, and ask, “didn’t you used to be a leaper? How did you get healed?”. This is not the time to weaken your thanksgiving to God, but strengthen it.  Whatever you are going through “GIVE THANKS”!
