Matthew 25:35, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,” can be applied to a wonderfully charitable cause Christian Contemporary recording artist Mandisa and others rallied around: Nashville Rescue Mission’s first annual “From Hunger to Hope” event.
The Christian organization, which feeds, clothes, provides shelter, and offers recovery programs to the homeless, hurting, and broken in the Middle Tennessee region, welcomed Mandisa, along with Karyn Williams and Michael Tait.
They each provided music to set the atmosphere for the night of hope and inspiration. All proceeds were donated to support the organization’s effort to lend a helping hand to the needy.
“We had the blessing of being able to provide 625,000 meals in 2012, and not one was served without volunteers. Thank you, Nashville,” said a Nathional Rescue Mission spokesperson in a message on Twitter to its supporters.
Mandisa tweeted that it was a “great night” at the mission benefit concert, after lifting her voice to sing for a good cause.
The organization is now on a quest to honor homeless mothers this year for Mother’s Day.
With nearly 40% of the nation’s homeless population being made up of single mothers with young children, the act of kindness won’t go unnoticed by women going through hardship.
