The standoff with an Indy shooting suspect is now over with an arrest, leaving one dead and a veteran officer shot in the head and chest. Daniel Brown, the man wanted here in Indy for shooting three people over the weekend is now accused in this shooting of a Chicago police captain. The “Chicago Tribune” says Brown was taken into custody by Chicago police officers after they raided an apartment late Tuesday night. The standoff began just before 6 p.m. when that police captain and officers tried to serve an arrest warrant for Brown. The captain is in the hospital in stable condition. Police also found a 42-year-old man dead inside the apartment following the standoff. Police are still investigating his death and don’t know the relationship between him and Brown. Police have not released his identity.
The power company, Duke Energy, is apologizing to customers after it incorrectly notified a credit agency that about 500-thousand customers in several states were late on their monthly payments. Here in Indiana, the blunder affects around 200-thousand people. A spokesman says they are working with the credit agency to make sure the incorrect information isn’t used.

IMPD is investigating the deaths of two children. Both of them passed away on Sunday at Riley Hospital for Children, but officials say their deaths are not related. A three-month-old was rushed to the hospital on Saturday after being found unresponsive and according to the coroner, died from blunt force trauma to the head. A one-and-a-half-year-old found barely responsive on Sunday allegedly died from bleeding on the brain.
IMPD is looking for a man who shot off his gun several times inside a local Waffle House. They say he walked into the location at 21st Street and Post Road early Wednesday morning and tried to grab a customer in a booth. That’s when he shot his gun several times, and then ran off. No one was hit by the gunfire.
Several hospitals across the city are taking new precautions to screen for Ebola. Emergency room workers are now asking patients with flu-like symptoms questions such as whether they’ve been to west Africa. Marion County 911 dispatchers will be asking the same questions to callers who feel sick and need an ambulance.
Nationally, health officials will be announcing new Ebola screening procedures at U.S. airports within days. Part of the new protocols may include screening passengers after they land in the U.S., in an attempt to catch those who may have developed symptoms of the virus mid-flight. The Obama administration has said they are still not considering an international travel ban.
TODAY: Butler University is holding a prayer service for a former student being held captive by terror group ISIS. Abdul-Rahman Kassig, formerly known as Peter, was in the Middle East doing humanitarian work when he was captured in October 2013 while en route to eastern Syria. Today’s service will be held at the Atherton Student Union Mall at 6 p.m.
Reverend Al Sharpton, whose show can be heard on our sister station 106.7 WTLC Sunday morning’s at 9 o’clock Eastern time, has cut ties to his long time associate Sanford Rubenstein as the investigation into a alleged sexual assault continues. The expulsion of the 70-year-old from Sharpton’s inner circle follows reports that a sex toy and bloody condoms were found in Rubenstein’s Upper East Side apartment. Sharpton tells the “Daily News” he doesn’t know why Rubenstein would take a key leader of his National Action Network back to his apartment after Sharpton’s 60th birthday bash, adding women in the network are outraged. In Sports: The Pacers are making it easier for fans to support their home team. With mobile ticketing, you can purchase tickets from your cell phone and then scan a QR code at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The system was tested near the end of last season and over the summer, and no major security issues were found.
Speaking of Pacers…George Hill netted 17 points with seven assists and six rebounds as the Pacers trounced the Timberwolves 103-90 in the preseason opener Tuesday night. Shayne Whittington added 11 points off the bench for the Blue ‘n Gold while Lavoy Allen had ten points. The Pacers host the Magic on Friday.
