The Afternoons with Amos PODCAST for Monday, May 18, 2015. A free-flowing discussion with callers and listeners about school safety, school discipline, how do we engage parents in involvement in their children and grandchildren’s school and education issues.  In the aftermath of that tragic beating at Northwestern High School that injured a female student with a 17-year-old male student charged with juvenile battery and criminal confinement, listeners have strong opinions and feelings on the issue.  Quoting Scripture and remembering their childhood and parents, listeners had plenty of great ideas and suggestions.  Even a resource was talked about by one listener about a study done with young people in Baltimore.  Additional information from other listeners found that it’s called the Long Shadow Study, conducted by three professors and researchers at The Johns Hopkins University. An article on the news page of the Johns Hopkins University website said about the Long Shadow Study, “Johns Hopkins University researchers followed nearly 800 Baltimore schoolchildren for a quarter of a century, and discovered that their fates were substantially determined by the family they were born into. Their findings were turned into a book The Long ShadowClick the Link For Information About the Study and the Book. THE LONG SHADOW STUDY    The Afternoons with Amos PODCAST For Monday, May 18, 2015.
