After 25 years in the industry, gospel recording artist Marvin Sapp is gearing up to release his 10th solo album, You Shall Live.

In a new “behind the songs” interview, the 48-year-old shares details about his forthcoming album and how he has carried on despite difficult trials.

“I’m not a victim, but I look at my life over the last five years and I know people who have given up for less than what I’ve had to go through,” says Sapp, who lost his wife MaLinda Sapp to colon cancer in 2010.

Of his new project, he says, “You Shall Live is just a declaration. It says, no matter how messed up you may think your life may be, every day above ground is a good day.”

Sapp continues, “So then, rather than wallowing in the challenges and the vicissitudes of life, declare and decree I’m gon’ live and then live on.”

While recording this CD, the inspiring artist and pastor said he went through “a myriad of emotions,” shed some tears and reflected on moments of overwhelming grief when he shut everyone out.
