Funeral plans have been set for Bobbi Kristina Brown following the death of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown’s only child last weekend. According to reports, Bobbi Kristina’s funeral will take place in Georgia on Saturday at the St. James United Methodist Church. Her body will then be flown to New Jersey so that she can be buried beside her mom, legendary songstress Whitney Houston. The funeral and the burial will be private. Bobbi’s boyfriend Nick Gordon reportedly did not receive an invite to either of the services. Read more.

New Bill Would Protect Unpaid Interns from Discrimination

Democratic lawmakers are looking to pass new bills that would give unpaid interns the same civil rights as employees. The Civil Rights Act currently doesn’t protect interns from discrimination or sexual harassment because they aren’t full time employees. The bill would protect interns working for the government, state, or private sector companies from being discriminated against based on their race, age, sex, or religion. If they were to encounter an issue related to that, then they would be able to sue. “There should be no legal grey area when we are talking about preventing sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace,” said Rep. Elijah Cummings. The bills were presented by Rep. Cummings, Rep. Bobby Scott (Va.) and Rep. Grace Meng (N.Y.). Read more.

Janet Jackson Halts Tour to be With Her Father

Janet Jackson has put her tour preparation plans on the back burner to be with her father Joe Jackson, who recently suffered a stroke. The 49-year-old singer’s comeback tour is slated to kick off on August 31st, but she has decided to put family matters before her career. Her brother Jermaine Jackson took to Twitter to give fans an update about Joe Jackson’s condition. “Thank you for you & prayers for our father. Following a heart procedure, he remains in hospital where he’s doing ‘extremely well.’ Doctors say cardiac arrest followed a mini-stroke,” he wrote. “Thankfully, brain scans show it’s ‘not as bad as first feared.’ We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the wonderful surgeons, doctors and nurses at the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo.” Read more.

132 Pro-Confederate Flag Protests Have Been Held Since Charleston Massacre

The Charleston massacre brought the controversy surrounding the Confederate flag to the forefront of national conversation. Ever since Dylann Roof took the lives of nine innocent people at the Emmanuel AME Church in South Carolina last month, there have been 132 pro-Confederate flag protests. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, 132 protests have occurred and there are 29 more being planned. Earlier this month, South Carolina decided to remove the flag from State Capitol grounds. Read more.
