Former co host of The View, Sherri Shepherd, lost the court battle to remove her name from her surrogate child’s birth certificate.  Shepherd’s ex-husband, Lamar Sally, is raising their 1-year-old boy, and a judge decided that Shepherd must pay him child support.

Shepherd and Sally used a donor egg, and a surrogate to have a child, then they split up a few months into the pregnancy.  There were speculations as to whether or not the child’s legal mother was Shepherd since they used a donor’s egg; however, a lower court ruled in April that Shepherd is in fact the child’s legal mother.  Shepherd fought for months to not have her name added as the legal mother to the child’s birth certificate, as her name didn’t originally appear on the birth certificate because she refused to be present at the time of his birth.

Sally spoke with People Magazine and commented, “I’m glad it’s finally over.  I’m glad the judges saw through all the lies that she put out there, and the negative media attention.  If she won’t be there for L.J. emotionally, I’ll be parent enough for the both of us.”
