The enrollment deadline for the Affordable Care Act, also known as ‘Obamacare’, is being extended to Monday. Officials with the federal healthcare exchange sent messages to members on Friday morning saying due to high demand on the previous day’s deadline, Thursday, December 15, they were giving people more time to enroll.

So now, if you want health care coverage from the exchange to begin on January 1, 2017 for yourself or your family, you have to sign up now by Monday, December 19. This latest enrollment period began on November 1 and there’s been a substantial jump, according to Healthcare.gov officials, since the presidential election.

Dismantling ‘Obamacare’ was a major theme of Republican candidate, and now President-elect Donald Trump. The notion was boosted in interviews given by both the House Majority leader, Paul Ryan, and Vice-President Elect, Indiana Governor Mike Pence. Pence was noted saying that dismantling it and replacing it will be “job one” once the new administration is sworn-in, in January.

The portal to access coverage again is Healthcare.gov.
