On Sept. 10th Radio One Indiana held a 2 hour Stop The Music radio block to have conversations about suicide prevention and mental illness.

One of our guests was Lorenzo Lewis. In 2016, Lewis founded the Confess Project to help remove the stigma and shame of mental illness within the African American community. Part of the Confess Project is its’ Barbershop Coalition. Lewis grew up spending a lot of time in the barbershop and realized that many people share their problems while being serviced. Through this program, African American men are encouraged speak about their emotional health.

Watch as Lorenzo sits down with Tina Cosby to talk about his work and mental health in the African American community.
