Actress and Grammy-award winning artist Jill Scott will headline this year’s Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration. Scott will perform on July 20th at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Tickets for the event go on sale Monday.
Man Arrested With Loaded Gun In Bag At Airport
An Indianapolis man is facing charges for trying to take a loaded gun through airport security. Police say a bag belonging to 24-year-old Britian Sherman was searched after a TSA officer noticed a mass. A handgun with a fully loaded ten-round magazine and five more loose rounds were found inside a case.
Man Killed, Children May Be Witnesses
A man is dead and his children may have watched it happen. Police say David McMiller was found inside his apartment on the city’s southwest side Wednesday afternoon. Investigators say he was either shot or stabbed in a “fierce struggle” and believe three small children were present at the time.
95-Year-Old Former Governor Marries
Former Indiana Governor Edgar Whitcomb is a newlywed. The 95-year-old married 83-year-old Evelyn Gayer on February 16th. The two met 12-years ago at a computer class and have been together ever since.
Peyton Manning Accident Story A Hoax
Former Colt Peyton Manning is the victim of an Internet hoax. A story came out Wednesday by “Global Associated News” that said Manning broke both of his legs in a car accident in Denver. But the bottom of the website reads, “This is an entertainment website and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes.”
Winter Storm…Now onto Spring!
Tuesday’s winter storm is one for the record books. About four-inches of snow fell in Avon, Fishers, Greenwood and Plainfield, the biggest March snow in seven-years. In 2006, there was five-and-a-half inches of snow in March.
Three State Police Troopers Involved In Accidents
Weather is being blamed for three accidents Wednesday morning involving Indiana State Police patrol cars. Officials say two of the cars were hit by vehicles on I-74 and I-465. A trooper was slightly injured when a semi side-swiped his car on I-65.
Indiana Recidivism Rate Declining
The number of inmates returning to prison in Indiana is on the decline. According to new data, only 36-percent of inmates returned to prison during a three-year tracking period. The Department of Corrections credits the drop to re-entry programs.
Saturday To Retire As A Colt Today
Jeff Saturday will retire from the NFL as a Colt today. But Indianapolis may not be done with him just yet. According to the “Indianapolis Star,” the organization is interested in making Saturday part of its front office.
