Murder-suicide under investigation
(Indianapolis) — IMPD is continuing their investigation after a weekend murder-suicide. Officers were dispatched to a home in the 10000 block of Courageous Drive near 79th and Fall Creek Road around 3 a.m. Sunday morning. Upon arrival, police found the body of Derek Tully, 50 inside the residence. Shortly afterwards, the body of John Caffrey, 48, was found outside of the home. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds. Detectives believe an ongoing dispute between the two men led to their deaths as initial reports indicate Caffrey entered Tully’s house and shot Tully in front of his wife. After leaving the home, authorities believe Caffrey shot himself in the head.
Prosecutor’s office considering filing formal charges
(Indianapolis) — The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office is still reviewing whether to file formal charges against a mother and a tow truck driver after her child was left in a car which was later towed away. Last week, Robyn Hardy left her seven-year-old son in the vehicle while she went into the Family Dollar store at 28th and Lafayette Road on the city’s westside. Hardy claimed she was in the store for five minutes, however employees commented she was in the store for about 15 minutes. When she came out of the store, she saw her vehicle had been towed away with her son inside. Tow truck driver Jason Gosset said he didn’t see the boy inside the car when he picked it up. Police said the car wasn’t properly secured to the tow truck, and both Hardy and Gosset were arrested after the incident.
