The Prime Minister of Jamaica, Portia Simpson-Miller, addressed the need for an apology from Britain from Britain over slavery in Jamaica. She also talked about compensation for slavery and the need for Jamaica to become fully independent from Britain.

Simpson addressed the exploitation of Africans sent to Jamaica as slaves and the enormous profits that slavery brought the ruling class in Britain.

“We have heard the calls, but I’m not making any calls on the British government.”
