Wow, it’s hard to make a preacher speechless, but I am tonight,” Bishop T.D. Jakes said after Cedric the Entertainer presented him with his award on the BET Honors stage.

Each year, BET recognizes African-American excellence in the fields of Service, Education, Musical Arts, Athletics and Entrepreneurship.

During his acceptance speech, the megapastor, humanitarian, author, and movie producer said, “I believe we’re all created by a Creator to be creative and that we have all kinds of gifts down inside of us.”

Jakes also noted that he feels “blessed” to be able to get out of bed every morning and do the things he believes he was created to do.

“I believe it is my destiny to help other people reach their destiny and to that end I have lived my life,” he continued.

Bishop also acknowledged First Lady Serita Jakes, his wife of 31 years.
