Child Struck By Car on South Side

Metro police are searching for a driver who struck a child and fled the scene last night. The 7 year old boy, was hit near Troy Avenue and Walcott Street while trying to cross the street. IMPD Spokesman Kendale Adams said the police are looking for an older-model, dark maroon vehicle, possibly a Delta 88. The vehicle was last seen going east on Troy Avenue, police said. The boy is in critical condition at Riley Hospital for Children, and anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.

IMPD Considered Grant For New Officers

Indianapolis is considering applying for a federal grant that would add 25 new police officers to IMPD.  Public Safety Director Troy Riggs says the grant would fund 75-percent of each officer’s pay and the city would have to match the other 25-percent, plus agree to keep the officers for a fourth year.  Riggs says the city has until May 22nd to decide if they want to apply.

 

Winning Powerball Ticket Sold in Indy

Double Check your Powerball Tickets! Lottery officials have said a ticket sold in Indianapolis matched five out of six winning numbers for a $1 million prize.The winning ticket was sold at a Speedway gas station on West County Line Road on the city’s south side.

No ticket matched The Powerball jackpot, which grew to a whopping $475 million dollars.

 

Indiana 3rd Least “Courteous” State

Some of you might have noticed this, Indiana residents are among the least courteous in the U.S., according to a call advertising firm’s analysis of more than 600,000 phone calls.

They were ranked based on usage of the words “please” and “thank you.”

Wisconsin and Massachusetts ranked first and second. The study also examined each state’s usage of curse words, finding Ohio had the most people using profanities, followed by Maryland, New Jersey, Louisiana and Illinois.

The most courteous states, were South Carolina, North Carolina, Maryland, Louisiana and Georgia.
