Man Exposes Himself at Keystone Fashion Mall

A man exposed himself to a woman in the parking garage of the Fashion Mall at Keystone Crossing on last evening. The woman parked on the first level of the parking garage and she said she noticed a man sitting in a gray vehicle that made her suspicious.

The woman walked quickly to the mall, as the man pulled down his shorts and exposed himself. The man left in his vehicle before police arrived, but the woman was able to write down his license plate number.

 

2013 Rib America Festival Cancelled

What would have been Indianapolis’ 18th annual Rib America Festival has been put on hold. The music and food festival has been a Labor Day weekend staple in the circle city for almost two decades, but low attendance is causing problems.

Festival organizers say the plan is to take just one year off to make some tweaks to the festival and come back in 2014. Poor weather — including extreme heat in 2011 and rainy remnants from Hurricane Isaac in 2012 — has led to poor attendance the past couple years.

 

Mystery Man Saves Mom and 2 Children From Fire

Firefighters are looking for a mystery man who is credited with helping a mom and her two children escape an early morning house fire on the city’s west side.

This happened Just before 1 a.m., in the 3000 block of Georgetown Road. Investigators said a knock on the door by an unknown man driving by is the only thing that alerted the family who was asleep inside that flames were shooting from the side of the house.

The man then helped the 34-year-old woman and her children, ages 5 and 10, escape the burning home but he left the scene before firefighters arrived. The home had no working smoke detectors. The fire caused about $40,000 in damages.

 

Pacers Lose to Heat in Game 5

The Pacers have one last shot to stay in the Eastern Conference Finals.  They lost Game Five to the Miami Heat Thursday 90-to-79.  Miami leads the best of seven series 3-to-2.

 

Company Violates Child Labor Laws

A city contractor in Beech Grove is being cited for violating child labor laws.  The Indiana Department of Labor says it has photos of a ten-year-old boy working for LTD Lawn Care.  State law prohibits anyone under 16 from operating powered equipment.  The company’s owner says the boy is his grandson and was just riding along.

 

East Side Fire Called “Suspicious”

A fire that sparked inside a home on the city’s east side early this morning is being called “suspicious” by IFD. The fire was reported just after 6:15 a.m. in the 600 block of Keystone Avenue.

Firefighters were able to douse the flames within 10 minutes, but the fire had already caused an estimated $20,000 in damages,.
