Today, Mayor Greg Ballard, Public Safety Director Troy Riggs and IMPD Chief Rick Hite presented a plan to reassign 100 IPMD officers from their desks to street duty.  At the same time, the Ten Point Coalition says the City County Council should immediately free up money to faith based groups to do community crime prevention activities.  meanwhile the Democratic majority on the Council, with a few GOP Council votes, will try to override the Mayor’s veto of using $6 million in Rebuild Indy cash to hire more police officers.  According to Fox 59 a report prepared by the Department of Public Safety says we need at least 600 more cops on the street for a city our size.  And IMPD admits that the earliest new cops would be put on our streets is in 2015.  So here’s today’s AWA INSTANT POLL:
