Indy Traffic Update

Two weeks into the South Split construction project, one of the ramps is now open.  The new I-70 eastbound ramp to I-65 southbound opened Tuesday night. Crews will now work on rebuilding the through lanes of I-65 southbound that pass under the Morris Street bridge.

Hit-and-Run

IMPD is looking for a Chevrolet Malibu reportedly involved in a hit and run.  Officials say 59-year-old Michael Robertson was walking on Sheldon Street just north of I-70 Tuesday when he was struck and critically hurt. Robertson is still listed in critical condition at Wishard.  The suspected car is registered to Felicia Moss and is a ‘98 green four-door with the Indiana plate OFP531. Anyone with information about the suspect vehicle is urged to contact IMPD by dialing 9-1-1. Callers who want to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers of Indiana at 317.262.TIPS (8477).  Texters may text tips to “INDYCS”.

David Bisard

A former investigator in the David Bisard DUI case is planning to sue the city for wrongful termination.  Ellen Corcella says she was fired after her investigation was met with resistance by the IMPD, the MarionCounty prosecutor and the mayor’s office.  Corcella says she was hired to look into the mishandling of blood evidence in the case. She claims that she uncovered abuses by officers that were never addressed.

Indiana Unemployment

In an effort to cut down fraud and overpayments, the Department of Workforce Development says Hoosiers who collect unemployment for more than four-weeks will soon have to complete a “work search review” in person at WorkOne offices.

IUPUI Students on Alert

Students at IUPUI are being cautious after a girl was reportedly grabbed on campus.  She told police she was walking on the west side of Cavanaugh Hall Monday night when a man grabbed her arm and told her, “come with me,” but was able to get away.  He’s described as white, about six-feet tall and was last seen wearing dark clothing.

In sports…

Not guilty–this is the ruling for former IU basketball player Devan Dumes on attempted murder charges. A jury acquitted him on Tuesday of carjacking a man on January 11th and of shooting him in the neck. Dumes played for the Hoosiers from 2008 to 2010.

Mark your calendars…The first round of the WNBA playoffs begin on Friday. Defending champions The Indiana Fever will head to Chicago to take on the Sky. Game Two of this state line battle will be held here at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on September 22nd.
