Tyscot Records Dominates Gospel Airplay Charts During 50th Anniversary Celebration

Tyscot Records is marking its 50th anniversary with a major milestone. For the first time in the label’s history, Tyscot-affiliated artists hold four of the Top 5 positions on both the Billboard Gospel Airplay and Mediabase Gospel Airplay charts.

Leading the way is gospel legend John P. Kee, whose hit “Church Medley” sits at No. 1 on the Mediabase Gospel Airplay chart after 35 weeks. The song is featured on his latest album, Throwback: An Evening with John P. Kee Part 1, which has earned seven Stellar Gospel Music Award nominations. The single also ranks No. 3 on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart.

Jason Nelson and Madison Ryann Ward continue their chart success with “Made New,” which claims the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Gospel Airplay chart for the week ending August 8. The uplifting single, from Nelson’s acclaimed album You Belong: Live in Durham, also holds No. 2 on the Mediabase chart.

Rounding out Tyscot’s impressive showing is Darrel Walls’ inspiring single “Able,” produced by PJ Morton. The song is No. 2 on Billboard and No. 5 on Mediabase, continuing the success of their Grammy Award-winning collaboration on Heart of Mine.

Meanwhile, PJ Morton is also making waves with “Mercy,” from his new double album, Saturday Night, Sunday Morning. The single currently sits at No. 3 on Mediabase and No. 4 on Billboard, further highlighting Tyscot’s remarkable presence across gospel radio.

The chart dominance underscores a historic moment for Tyscot Records as the legendary label celebrates five decades of shaping and elevating gospel music.
