Bisard To Be Sentenced On Tuesday

Consecutive sentences.  This is what Marion County Prosecutor Denise Robinson for as a punishment for former IMPD Officer David Bisard. Earlier this month, Bisard was found guilty of driving drunk when he crashed his patrol car into a group of motorcyclists in 2010. That crash killed one of them, Eric Wells, and critically injured two others Mary Mills and Kurt Weekly. Bisard is scheduled to be sentenced tomorrow.

Murder-Suicide Investigation is Underway

Two people are dead from an apparent murder-suicide on the city’s westside. Just before 9p.m. Sunday night, IMPD officers arrived at a home in the 1000 block of Waldemere Avenue on a report of a person shot. They found a man and a woman dead. Their names haven’t been released and homicide detectives think a domestic occurrence led up to this shooting.

Woman Dies and Two Hurt in Kitchen Fire

A kitchen fire on Indy’s Westside is blamed for taking the life of a woman and injuring two men on Sunday.  The blaze broke out just after 4a.m. in the home in the 2300 block of Groff Avenue.  The female victim, only described as in her 40’s, apparently warned the men that grease on the stove had caught fire but she couldn’t escape the flames, according to the Indianapolis Fire Department.  Fifty-five-year-old Earl Brown and 44-year-old Samuel Jackson escaped and were taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital where they are listed in serious condition.

Mother Burned In Fire Still Critical

A Johnson County mother severely burned trying to save her children from a house fire is fighting for her life. The six-month-old and 18-month-old died in Friday’s fire. The cause of the blaze has not yet been released.

Never Heat Home With Appliances

When temperatures fall, the risk for home fires rise.  Therefore, as tempting as it may be, the Indianapolis Fire Department says you should never use appliances to heat your home in the winter. Officials say it’s dangerous and can lead to a dangerous and costly fire. In order to prevent a blaze, the fire department is also encouraging you to check your furnace, fireplace and clothes dryer, and to make sure all smoke detectors have working batteries. Firefighters responded to nearly ten fires over the weekend.

Southside School Bus Crash Injures One Student

Emergency crews took at least one student to the hospital after a school bus crash Monday morning on the Southside. According to media reports, this crash involved a Decatur Township school bus that was pulled over to pick up children at the ABC Child Care and preschool in the 5200 block of south Kentucky Avenue. One child suffered a bump to the head and was transported. The other students were checked on the scene. The bus was apparently rear ended by a car. The bus was damaged and taken away from the crash site.

Officer Released From The Hospital

An IMPD officer injured when a semi truck hauling a boat slammed into his patrol car is out of the hospital.  The accident happened Friday morning on the city’s east side as Officer Michael Hegg was turning into the Cherry Tree Plaza.  Investigators say the semi drove through the stop light as it was turning red.  IMPD says Hegg is now home relaxing and thanks everyone for their outpouring of care and support.

Colts Lose To Cardinals

The Colts are coming home from a beating on the field in Arizona.  They lost to the Cardinals Sunday 40-to-11.  The Colts were held to 239 total yards in the matchup.  Andrew Luck passed for 163 yards with a touchdown and interception. Luck’s pick was taken back for a TD as Indianapolis fell to 7-and-4.  The Colts take on the Titans at Lucas Oil Stadium on December 1st.

Pacers Host Wolves Tonight

The Pacers are in action at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight. Indiana improved to 12-and-1 with Saturday’s 106-98 home win over the 76ers. The Wolves come into tonight’s game with an 8-and-7 record.  Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse downtown.
