Oscar winner and comedian Robin Williams died this morning in an apparent suicide.
He was 63 years old.
His publicist released the following statement.
“Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”
Best known for his role as Mrs. Doubtfire, a role he was set to reprise in an upcoming sequel, Williams won an Oscar for his supporting role in “Good Will Hunting.”
The cause of death suspected by the sheriff’s department is “suicide due to asphyxia.”
